Waste of Time

These note cards are absolutely worthless for the following reasons:
1) Note cards typically contain brief and digestible amounts of information so you can read the prompt, answer the question in your head, and then flip the card over to check your answer in order to consume information quickly. Almost every single card's explanations n to the prompt is more than 4 sentences, and appears to be copy and pasted from a textbook, rather than edited to correctly answer the prompt.
2) Typos. SO MANY TYPOS. When you're learning something technical like IRS forms, it's really important for the source material to use precise language. Aside from the awkward and excessive wording of each card, I found multiple instances where a word was misspelled and completely changed the meaning of the entire answer.
3) The cards do not prepare you to retain information in the format you will be expected to give it on the test. The FPC exam uses situational premises for its questions (e.g. "This employee earns $X per pay period, will receive a bonus of $X and has Y allowances, what are her net wages?") but the information on these notecards are so poorly edited and phrased the information you retain is hardly applicable.
I budgeted 8 weeks to study for the FPC at 1.5 hours per day. I used these cards for 6 of those weeks. When I took a practice test, I got 25/75 questions correct. For the next week, I used the APA's study book (provided to me for free by my employer) and in that time was able to raise my practice test score (a different version of the practice test) by 35 questions.
I wouldn't recommend these cards under any circumstance whatsoever. Even if the APA material is too expensive for you, don't buy theee cards, they're a waste of time.

I used these cards to prep for my FPC certification last year. I wasn't sure at first, but the reviews convinced me. Now I see why...I LOVED using these cards. Very effective and informative method of study. I did as the instructions suggested, making three piles and narrowing them down. I am 100% certain that these cards contributed to me passing the exam the first time. Highly recommended. 5-stars!
