S. Chandrasekhar on black holes and gravitational waves: What a story! Forty years after his pioneer investigations, Chandra returned to the study of the dead stars. He had told us back in 1931 that massive stars could not die as ordinary objects, consisting of regular matter, could. Eddington would rebuff the idea as absurd; the scientific community would side mostly with Eddington; and, although the Schwarzschild solution was waiting around for its correct interpretation, the development of black holes would be delayed by a few decades. So, although all the ingredients were there and we did not have to wait too long, it was not until the sixties that we would incorporate black holes into our world view.

About the Author
Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (1910-1995)�received many awards in his career, including the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983, the National Medal of Science (U.S.), and the Copley Medal of the Royal Society (London). He was the Morton D. Hull Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Department of Physics, and the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago.

Disappointed - expected more practical information

The book mentions one report which allows you to see which keywords /ad combo works best - that i found very useful, and to be honest i was expecting a lot more of this. But that was the only useful bit of info i got from the book, the rest of the book was how there is a QS for this and a QS for that and at the end of the day everything comes down to CTR.

another section in the books asks you to contact the author for a free excel spreadsheet which i did twice and got no response.

Very interesting and useful even for advanced professionals

I'm a Google qualified AdWords professional who did the training at Google's Sydney office and who works as SEO/SEM but this book is so detailed and interesting that I finished reading it in two days. I couldn't stop reading because there was always something new, something interesting in the following chapter.
I describes the many CTR and QS values and how these affect the averaged, visible QS and what impact these values have on the campaign/ad group/ad and keyword level performance. Probably I have to read it a few more times in order to fully understand all the details and guidelines but it is worth reading.
It isn't cheap but it's a great investment if you work in the SEM industry and interested in improving your knowledge.
The book is easy to read and understand if you know the basics and it isn't too long either, so you can read it quite quickly.

The Authority on Quality Score

I was introduced to the book through a colleague at work who had attended one of Craig Danuloff's speaking sessions at one of the internet marketing conferences. As a pay-per-click (PPC) manager, I understood the fundamentals in campaign structuring, bidding strategies, etc., but found the author's insight into how Google Adword's Quality Score fascinating. In the book, Craig reintroduces several points that would prompt any seasoned PPC advertiser to take pause and re-evaluate their campaigns.

The information in the book was well articulated with great analogies to present what might otherwise be complicated, almost abstract concepts into simple terms. I especially liked how Craig presented some concrete, actionable items that any advertisers could utilize as part of a PPC "Health Checkup". The length allowed me to finish the book easily in a weekend while indexing pages and jotting down notes.

In summary: for any Google Adwords PPC advertiser looking to delve into more advanced analytics to optimize their campaigns, this book comes highly recommended.

Hellman has written about Mexicans for more than 40 years. Increasingly dangerous and expensive border crossings have forced seasonal workers to either remain in the U.S. or return home permanently. This choice is complicated by such factors as children born in the U.S. who wish to stay, and the harsh realities of life in Manhattan or Los Angeles, including low wages and crowded housing neglected by slum landlords. A Voice for the Voiceless

Apart from personal relationships, Anglo Americans like myself don't often get to hear the stories of Mexican migrants told by Mexican migrants themselves. We are fed whatever images and explanations the dominant culture chooses to give us through media and politicians. This book is a gift in that the author serves as more of a microphone than a pen. Through interviews with migrants in Los Estados Unidos (the hard place) and in M�xico (the rock) she allows the migrants and their families to speak for themselves. These are voices and stories we all need to hear.

Great Book for Strength Athletes

Steve Justa is not only a great lifter, but his aptly named book shows he can teach you exactly what he has done to become so strong. This book surprised me in it's realistic style, which makes you feel as if Steve is sitting with you at his kitchen table, telling you his secrets. Not only does this book show what he has done to become strong, but it outlines many different excercises and lifting routines to explore news areas of strength in your own lifting. If you are looking for a book that can give you new, creative ways to effectively increase you overall strength levels, you need to add this book to your collection.

Very Innovative!

For some time I have been one of those who, for some reason, believed that strength could only be built with barbells and dumbells in a nice, clean gym. This peculiar way of thinking was due to being under the spell of body-bulding and the fashionable scene that goes along with it nowadays.

Sure barbells and dumbells need to be a big part of a strength trainers "arsenal" but, thanks to writers like Brooks Kubik ("Dinosaur Training"), Matt Furey, and the author of this book, Steve Justa I have come to see that odd-objects (sanbags, barrels, even the human body) can be used to build super strength. These awkward shaped objects build muscles that remain unaffected by "normal" barbell training and, like some barbell exercises (squats, deadlifts, bench press), these types of lifts are compound exercises which emphasize that a great many muscles work together. This breaks with the body-building paradigm which emphasizes isolation.

Justa underscores saftey and gives methods he uses to train safely.

He also emphasizes the importance of building up the tendons and ligaments, a point entirely missing in most recent literature (thugh it was important among old-time strength builders).

Furthermore, you will get caught up in Justa's enthusiam for the iron game and the resultant greater motivation you enjoy from reading this book will lead to bigger gains. Good luck!

As far from mainstream as it gets, excellent, very worth reading

More a booklet than a book, but inspiring and well worth the read. Steve Justa is a modern descendant of the Old Time Strongmen, one of those outliers who has spent his life building amazing practical strength. Here he lays out some of the training systems he used to build that strength. Barrel lifting, isometrics, weighted running, shovel lifts, sled pulling, the Backlift, the Hand-and-Thigh lift, and more are covered, along with programs for more common gym lifts, including a training with singles program that might make McFitness club trainers blow a gasket.

Even if you're not interested in strength training, this booklet offers a fascinating look at what the human body can accomplish with time and dedicated practice. If you are interested in building strength, [U]Rock, Iron, Steel[/U] will likely change the way you train.

So, it's a very good book. Recommended.

This is what it says, a history of Russia. The author and I differ on what short is however. Also, all images are located at the end of the book. It starts with earliest known records, through the wars, over the political unrest, most major events and reads very dryly. Overall, yes what the author says, but hard to swallow.
