A Must-Have for Content Marketers at Any Level

Patel & Wormley’s Content Marketing Playbook is a win. I started this read with something less than enthusiasm: how much “content about content” can a marketer read in one lifetime? It turns out that this meta content is much better than what that I’ve read lately. The Content Marketing Playbook is a must-have on your marketing ebook shelf, both to read and to reference.

PROS:
Patel & Wormley do not spend chapter after chapter setting up a broad theory or beautiful metaphor to explain why marketers must engage in content marketing. (What a relief!) Instead, they get right to the point, taking the reader through the ins and outs of content marketing. The ebook is “of the moment”, drawing upon recently published blog posts and recommending best-in-class tools. The Content Marketing Playbook is useful in the way you want all marketing books to be.

CONS:
At a few points in the book, the narrative seems rushed compared to the full explanations elsewhere. Other sections seem overly reliant on sourced material, and I was left wanting more of the authors’ own voices. More editing is probably needed.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Highly recommend the Content Marketing Playbook for anyone with some exposure to or interest in content marketing. For these readers, the book will be a fine but somewhat overwhelming introduction now and a superb resource as they gain experience. Also highly recommend the Content Marketing Playbook for anyone who has intermediate or higher experience in content marketing. For these readers, the book will reveal some unique techniques to exercise in their own marketing practices.

Transform the way you do business, the content marketing playbook is a must read!

Sujan's books have transformed the way I do business. I run a couple eCommerce dropshipping sites and applied these strategies with great success.

Instead of paying $20,000 a month for Paid Traffic I invest $5,000 a month in content marketing to build my email list. Email converts 3x higher than paid traffic for us so it's a huge win! IF you are just starting this is great at covering the basics but I highly recommend this for the seasoned content marketer. You'll learn about new tools and tactics that will pay tenfold.

QuickBooks: To use or not to use

As CPA specializing in providing services to Non-profit organizations, I felt I'd better get, read, and study this book as it has other outstanding reviews. I'm currently only into Chapter 2 (I read the entire appendix first as suggested by the author) and the information and layout are remarkable and with the update, timely.

For most of my clients there is no question, they will continue to use QuickBooks and the road to better bookkeeping will be one step at a time. These are the clients that will benefit the most from my purchase of this book and I will be recommending each of them purchase their own copy.

The other undecided or willing to change clients may after reading chapter 1 of the book, will decide not to use QuickBooks at all. The first chapter is 12 pages of areas that QuickBooks falls short for Non-profit accounting. There are work arounds for most issues, but others require exporting the reports to Excel and then customizing the reports manually.

So, in summary, the book is great; however, it may make you question your decision to use QuickBooks in the first place.

An invaluable aid for anyone using QuickBooks for non-profits

I could not find this topic in the "Dummies" series (my first move when I get into something new), but am I glad I found this. As a new board treasurer for a small non-profit ($110k), this was invaluable. Our books ("QB for Non-Profits Premier") were a jumble due to multiple treasurers and bookkeepers in the last five years or more. I am not a bookkeeper or accountant, but I am good with numbers and logic (I'm an engineer) and have reviewed many financial reports. The appendix on accounting requirements for non-profits was invaluable to me (and is required reading for all board members). I sat down to get started in my new job as treasurer with our accountant who works with many non-profits; she is planning to buy the book!

A must have for bookkeepers, treasurers and accountants (ok,I'm presuming) using QB for their non-profit organization.

A Big Help!

I'm not a CPA, but have been helping out small non-profit organizations for a long time, doing bookkeeping. I'm a long time user of for profit versions of QuickBooks and feel comfortable with a 990 form. However, the new nonprofit version of QuickBooks totally flummoxed me! I spent days surfing online for answers to the QuickBooks problems and finally broke down and contacted a QB Certified Advisor at a local CPA's office. Turns out she didn't even know that there was a separate nonprofit version and she couldn't solve my problems. That made me feel a little better, but I was still very frustrated and feeling as if my bookkeeping skills were not so hot.

This book helped me regain my self-esteem. I got a big grin on my face every time the author said, "QuickBooks doesn't do this task right and here is how you can get around it." Whew! What a big help. I still have issues with QB that this book won't solve, but our situation (needing to do inventory too) is a bit different from most nonprofits. Otherwise, this book is very easy to understand and very helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

He describes what is, based on more than 100 interviews with Vatican insiders, and he prescribes what might be, based on his own sense of the church's place in the contemporary world. Though he avoids discussing personal lives of curial officials, he humanizes a vast bureaucracy with an occasional bit of gossip and a few revealing Vatican jokes. For example, one official offered a careerist's recipe for survival in the Roman curia: "Don't think. If you think, don't speak. If you speak, don't write. If you think and if you speak, don't write. Reese, a Jesuit priest and political scientist, provides detailed information, much of which is not available elsewhere, on the internal workings of the Vatican both as city-state and the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. That information ranges from how popes are elected and how each of the Vatican offices operates to how the Vatican bank functions and what sort of fire department the Vatican has. Reese also offers insights, e.g., that Cardinals tend to elect an older pope to avoid a long reign, and notes procedures for deposing an insane or otherwise incapacitated pope. With its wealth of information, historical background, and analysis, Reese's work should be an important addition for a variety of libraries. An Enlightening Look Behind the Vatican�s Closed Doors

One young girl wrote in a book report "This book tells me more about hippopotamuses than I wanted to know." Unless you have a special interest in the Vatican inside story, this book may also tell you too much. But since the Roman Curia of the Catholic Church is one of the three most efficient corporate structures in the world, and since its work touches the lives of a billion Roman Catholics (and much of the rest of the world as well), and since its failings have been at the center of controversy in the Catholic world, the book is important. It is a well written and exhaustive summary of how the central Catholic government is structured and makes its decisions. The author, who has written on church governance at all levels, is a recognized expert in the field. Despite the controversial nature of the topic Reese treats the Curia fairly and objectively. Those who complain about the Curia should read this book, for while many of their complaints may be justified, they might be surprised at the amount and complexity of the work the Vatican does, the care and dedication with which they try to do it, and the problems and difficulties they labor under. The section on the internal culture of the Curia is particularly enlightening, and the author's concrete and professional suggestions for reform are valuable.

Ever wonder what it'd be like to be a Vatican bureaucrat?

Thomas Reese, Jesuit professor and journalist, has carved a very narrow niche for himself as an author, explaining the organizational mechanics of the Catholic church. Most people would find his books to have far too much detail, but there are a few, like me, who are curious about what really happens behind the closed doors of the Catholic administrative apparatus. His 1989 book, "Archbishop," described how dioceses are run, and "Inside the Vatican" describes how the Vatican functions. What decisions do cardinals actually make? What is it like to be a Vatican ambassador to a foreign country? What is it like to have a career as a Vatican bureaucrat? (One tidbit: No air conditioning!)
If these are things you've wondered about, this is the book for you. Reese approaches these things as though he were an anthropologist or a management consultant, with a keen eye for the nuances of interpersonal relationships within the Vatican bureaucracy. My only complaints are that the amount of detail can be overwhelming, and Reese sometimes gets bogged down in a wooden style of writing. It's best to start reading this book in the middle, because the beginning is rather dry. On the other hand, the anecdotes are a strong plus. To give one example, the story of John Paul II reprimanding the Archbishop of Denver to his face creates a mental image that is hard to forget.
The last chapter is the most provocative, where Reese suggests reforms that are both logical and unrealistic: He argues that Vatican administrators should not be allowed to become cardinals, which in papal elections would cause a monumental power shift toward those who are in closer touch with the laity. Reese suggests priests play a major role in selecting bishops, as was the case before the 1800s, in contrast to the current practice in which the pope appoints ultraconservative bishops who can't relate to anyone in their diocese.
According to Reese, the underlying problem is that the Vatican is more interested in doctrinal purity than keeping people in the church. Meanwhile the laity are voting with their feet, gravitating to pastors who ignore papal instructions, or leaving the church altogether.

It is amazing, there are massive plot twists and something you will never see coming, altough I recommnd you read the other books first so you don't have the whole story spoiled. About the Author
Jay S. Albanese is Professor in the Wilder School of Government & Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. He served as Chief of the International Center at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the research arm of the U.S. Department of Justice, from 2002 to 2006. He is author of many articles, and author/editor of 16 books. Albanese is the recipient of the Elske Smith Distinguished Lecturer Award from Virginia Commonwealth University, the Teaching Excellence Award from Niagara University, and the G.O.W. Mueller Award for Outstanding Contributions to Comparative/International Criminal Justice from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, International Section. He has served as Executive Director of the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime and is a past president and fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the American Society of Criminology.

Terrific overview of organized crime

A well-organized and comprehensive overview of the subject with a dedicated chapter on the history of the Mafia in the US, including all the mob trials of recent years. Good opening chapters to distinguish the essential characteristics of organized crime, using actual cases. A nice review of investigation, prosecution, defense, and sentencing in organized crime cases, plus a chapter on transnational organized crime.

It just goes to show you; great stories never truly end!

In the spirit of his epic SWORD OF TRUTH series, Goodkind surges forward with a new spin-off; DEATH’S MISTRESS. Nicci is arguably my favorite supporting character, and this only proves why. For an author choosing to continue a saga after the conclusion, they must have a hero/heroine with an incomplete character arc that screams amazing potential. It’s true that Nicci already made the leap from the ‘dark side’ in my all-time favorite book, FAITH OF THE FALLEN – but I always knew she was a powder keg that had yet to be lit. Terry Goodkind’s ability to draw the reader into his world of realistic tribulations and inner dialogue, was a huge inspiration for me to begin writing in the fantasy genre back in the early 90’s. For whatever it’s worth, I highly recommend DEATH’S MISTRESS to anyone who hates letting go.

I look forward to more of Nicci

Death’s Mistress by Terry Goodkind is the 1st book in his new series, Sister of Darkness: The Nicci Chronicles. I am a big fan of Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series, and was happy with the end of the arc of Richard and Kahlan. Though she was a villain early on in the series, Nicci became one of my favorites (besides Cara) later on. I was happy to see that Goodkind has started a new series that will revolve around Nicci, starting with Death’s Mistress.

At the start, our powerful sorceress Nicci and the wizard, Nathan were on a trek to visit with the witch, Red, whom Nathan had a request. Nicci and Nathan have been assigned by Richard to visit other realms and spread the word that the war and slavery is over, and everyone is free. Nicci decides to go with Nathan on his visit to the witch, protecting him since he would be entering dangerous grounds. Before they leave the witch, she will tell them of their destiny; Nathan to find the land that will restore his wizard powers, and Nicci to save the world.

What follows is an epic adventure that will bring in some new characters to join them, as they face some wild and dangerous situations that always come into play in these types of fantasy novels. At many different stops along the way, they come across dangerous and terrible situations with sea creatures or sand monsters, as well as two evil beings that lost their way from using powerful spells buried deep over the years. It will take the ultra powerful Nicci to use her magic to help save the others, as well as Nathan to help find the hidden information to stop the villains from destroying the world.

This is an exciting, non stop action filled story that has you totally engrossed in this adventure. It is difficult to tell too much more, as you need to read and visualize the action. I loved Nicci, and despite her being hard core, she has changed so much since changing her total loyalty to Richard, and in this book we begin to see a small change to her becoming emotionally attached. The two new characters who we meet early were very likeable. Bannon is a young man whom Nicci helps save, and then he joins her and Nathan on their adventure. Thistle is young girl, who loses her family in one of the horrible attacks; she too joins with them. There were many emotional moments throughout the book, which included being on the edge of your seat, fear and even tears.

Terry Goodkind has given us a new series that allows us to stay in the Sword of Truth world, with the focus on Nicci as our heroine. I for one am thrilled about this series, and will be waiting for the next one. If you are a fantasy lover, as well as Sword of Truth fan, I recommend you read Death’s Mistress.

Great book, my wife and I both loved it

Let's get this straight: I love the overall series as a whole and Terry would really have to screw something up horribly for me to say something terrible.....like opening the Boxes of Ordin and just "poof", bad people gone......something like that.

Great story with characters that i was enthralled with long before he thought of this book. I was thinking going in one thing and something totally different going out. Since i expected the story to say and do another thing totally, I was happily surprised all the way through without being able to guess too far where the story was going. I really hope he decides to write more on other focal characters as well that may hit more of the past that never heard or saw before.

Real Time Analytics with SAP HANA

Real Time analytic-es is one of the most attractive BI topics nowadays. This was impossible or very expensive at near past; but we can use advanced technologies like SAP HANA to achieve this dream.
I was a student for the Author "Vinay Singh" by attending one of the Official SAP training. I have to say that Vinay is a very knowledgeable person who have a great skills to teach and being one whom working in SAP Labs and one of the early first people whom get the chance to see how SAP HANA started and evolved. So, I was very interested to read this book.
The author did a really very good job here as he started with some introductory chapters to setup the basics which required to understand the remaining chapters. Topics like difference between traditional database and in-memory database, joins, union, procedures and scripts in SAP HANA are discussed in the first chapter. The author moves to explain SAP HANA Studio and and different modeling techniques like (attribute views, analytical views and calculation views). After that; the author start talking about data loading and how we can use replication techniques like SAP HANA SLT to instant data replication into SAP HANA.
I really liked the self-study questions which added by end of each chapter; this is an amazing way to help understanding topics and do more re-search. Finally; I would like to thank the Author for his effort and looking for more great SAP HANA Books

What you expect from the book

SAP is a vast ocean with new frontiers opening up. This make it very difficult to find the relevant material or reading options. I searched and went through details before buying this book for our company. This books contains lot of examples which make it easy to follow. I skipped the chapters which were not relevant for me and I was still able to follow the content of the relevant sections.

This book helped in gaining more insight on HANA studio and various data models. Kudos to author and 5 stars from me.

Technical but fascinating

I am not involved in the scientific disciplines and so parts of this good were neither useful nor particularly comprehensible to me. Nevertheless I understood enough to be fascinated. I strongly recommend that you avoid this book if you are looking for an engrossing read aimed at the layperson.
