S.K.S. Perry is a Sgt currently serving in his 33rd year in the Canadian Forces. Steve doesn't like violence; he's just really good at. He has a lovely wife, two great kids, and a house full of teddy bears that totally put lie to his tough guy image. When no one is looking he's also a drummer in a rock band, and holds black belts in seven different martial arts. His plan is to one day be independently wealthy, or even dependently wealthy--he doesn't really care whose money it is as long as they let him spend it. He has written 5 books to date and plans to write more, unless someone pays him enough to stop.

My favorite author EVER!

Now I know, you are going to say "what are you saying? What about Robert Heinelen, Isaac Asmov, Orson Scott Card, R.A, Salvator, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? ". Yes, yes, they are all incredible, but Perry just has wit! He is so in tune with the readers, even if I'm the only one! I've been waiting for another in this series for so long. I read Dark side back when it was just a word doc online that I got for free. I emailed Perry, and yes! He answered. What a very nice guy. Seriously. So I read this book hopefully to find many of the same quirky jokes, references, etc. They were all there... Well all except for maybe a Barenaked Ladies or RUSH reference.. But anyway... The book follows our favorite hero in another adventure. James continues to learn in front of our eyes what it means to be an eternal, and we get to watch! All the characters are like family, yes very different, but so beautifully diverse. Perry has such a unique way to tell a story, I cannot imagine that his children go to bed without a story each night... Ok, they may not sleep since they are probably wearing garlic, and using sun lamps, but stories nonetheless!
Thank you Mr. Perry for another wonderful ride in darkside and in this series. Please take a break from saving Canada from bad guys, and write another!!

This author is funny as well as a great story teller, this is an easy read, meaning can just read on and on effortlessly because the books he writes are just written in a way that makes it enjoyable.

In addition to critical advances in location-aware computing, databases, and data mining methods, advances in the human-computer interface will couple new computational capabilities with human cognitive capabilities.

This report outlines an interdisciplinary research roadmap at the intersection of computer science and geospatial information science. The report was developed by a committee convened by the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council.

Amongst The Best

You cannot go wrong with Joseph Murphy's books. He is one of the best writers on showing how a person can turn their life around. He had great learning and understanding, which he wanted to share with the world to help end suffering and bring perfect happiness into the lives of people. It is clear he loved people, the world, and Life.
Especially needed and learned is his chapter on women and religion in volume three of this series of books. The meaning of 'woman/wife' and 'man/husband' in scriptures was never to be meant literally, but refers to the female and male aspects of every person, and is a scriptural lesson on how to 'control'/guide/direct yourself so that you can 'come out of bondage' to the life you are meant to have. (There are many other authors who have researched the symbolic/allegorical meanings of the scripture stories for those who are interested in this topic).

Change starts within and Joseph Murphy shows you how and tells you why you can bring the change you want in your life. It must start within yourself first before you will see it on the outside. It is all up to the individual; it always has been.
Joseph Murphy tells you that it's the world within, your thoughts, feelings, moods, imagination, that is creative; that inner world is the cause of the outer world of the senses, and you are the director/the one at the wheel.
So you can change the outer circumstances by changing your thoughts and most importantly not reacting to all that's appearing in your life, but keeping your focus/moods on feeling you will see manifest what you want; not easy, but if you persist, keeping in mind that what you're experiencing is based on your past thought patterns and so will passover/change as you change your inner world, you cannot fail to receive what you seek.

Not everyone is ready for this message, it means taking full responsibility for your life and blaming no-one...it is the message of all the 'holy' scriptures in the world.
It's up to you, always has been, and it's all good once you can see the truth, you can use Life negatively or positively, It's always acting on what you think (and therefore, direct). Life is there for you, all joy, all peace, is all there for you.
Joseph Murphy's books are timeless, easy to read and comprehend and worth every penny...read and reread, until your practice manifests the truth of what's said.

I have become a devoted follower of Dr. Joseph Murphy's wit and wisdom, keen insights, penetrating personal interviews. This book is yet another testament to his literary genius. Although I would have liked for the publication to have been released as Murphy wrote the essays, the editing seems very geniuine and does not disrupt the Murphy flow of expression. Feeling a bit low, discouraged, directionless--even fearful, nervous? This text will do more for your spiritual health than any drug or potion. A gem to own, a jewel in your crown.

Life Changing Material - Total Paradigm Shift

As the other reviews wrote; you can't go wrong with Dr. Joseph Murphy. This book is a short, easy to read, straight to the point - a top notch book that every people need in every area of their lives.

Reading, underlining and applying what I'm learning from this book makes me more calm, confident and free from fear. Because it is solid, life changing and paradigm shifting material which stood the test of time.

My Dr. Joseph Murphy collection grows with these series of books and I'm putting away stuff like Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Tony Robbins etc. (those popular stuff never actually helping me) to my book cabinet - but keeping these books on my desk all the time, to read over and over - digest and internalize its material.

Along with Dr. Joseph Murphy, I highly recommend Claude Bristol, James Allen, Wallace Wattles, David Schwartz, George Clason, and Napoleon Hill to study and apply.

One smallest book from these classic authors equals to the 500-600 pages of popular Brian Tracy/Tony Robbins stuff and thousand times more helpful.

John Powers is a writer and film critic. Powers covers film and politics for Vogue and Vogue.com and is the pop-culture critic and critic-at-large on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Harper’s, The Nation, Gourmet, the Washington Post, The New York Times, and L.A. Weekly, where he spent twelve years as a critic and columnist.

In the Mood for WKW

Must own. Very large/heavy book full of gorgeous photos that sometimes spread across both pages. The back of the book explains what every photo is, which keeps the photos the focus instead of having captions everywhere.

But this isn't what I'd call a coffee table book/photobook. It isn't something I'd let guests pick up and flip through. I'd have to trust they wouldn't ruin it.

The 'essays' by Powers are well-written and fun to read. The conversations/interviews with Wong Kar Wai are better and worth reading multiple times.

You should own this if you love Wong Kar Wai. Would make a great gift.

A contemporary Hitchcock / Truffaut.

This book would've provided much insight to my final assignment on WKW in Asian Cinema. Alas that was 10 years ago.
John Powers interviewed WKW like Truffaut did Hitchcock, and you do learn a lot more behind-the-scene stories of how WKW, his then cinematographer Christopher Doyle, art director William Chang, survived the glory yet commercialised HK cinema. He also explained how the look of all his movies came to be.
(My favourite anecdote will always be how Tony Leung was 'mislead' into a gay love making scene, and regretting not going 'all in' years later.)
Definitely a revelation to how Wong Kar Wai became WKW.
This is a text heavy book and not as picturesque as I imagined. It starts with Powers' own summary of the book, which spanned perhaps 30% of the book before getting into the actual interviews.
Hence my slight annoyance when content repeats itself.
